Last spring, Jeremy and I went to Europe (London, Venice, and Rome) for our honeymoon. I’ve been (taking my sweet time…) working on some travel guides for all these cities. Recently I posted my full London travel guide if you want to check it out! One of the main things I wanted to do on our trip was tour the Harry Potter (Warner Brothers) Studio. In this blog, I’ll be doing a full recap of the Harry Potter Studio London.
The Harry Potter Studio London
If you’re making a UK trip and looking for things to do in London, I’d highly recommend doing the Harry Potter Studio tour. That is, of course, if you’re a Harry Potter fan. But honestly, would you be reading this post if you weren’t? I think not. 😉
The Harry Potter Studio is about an hour or so outside of London. So the tour starts with an official Warner Brothers Studio bus picking you up in the city.
We booked our tour through Golden Tours, which I would recommend for ease of getting to/from the studio.
The buses have little TVs inside that play Harry Potter movies on the way to the studio. I thought that was a nice touch and provides some entertainment for the somewhat long bus ride.
When you first get dropped off and walk up to the studio, you’ll walk through a row of different character’s wands. Of course, I had to get a photo with Hermione’s wand!
The cupboard under the stairs (Harry’s bedroom at the Dursley’s).
When you first walk into the studio, you’re greeted by one of the giant dragons from the Triwizard tournament! I’m not a dragon expert so I’m not sure which one this is, but if you know, let me know in the comments. 😉
First on the tour, you get to walk through the Great Hall, where the characters all have meals, holiday celebrations, etc. It’s HUGE and absolutely mindblowing to see. You really feel like you’re a witch/wizard at Hogwarts, just walking in for a casual meal.
Throughout the tour, they have a bunch of different outfits from the movies. This is Hermione’s beautiful dress from the Yule Ball.
The ice sculpture of the castle from the Yule Ball.
As a chocolate obsessed girly, you know I would LOVE to be at the Great Chocolate Feast. If only this table was full of real chocolate. 😉
There were tons of paintings that hung throughout Hogwarts on the tour. As well as the gorgeous staircases. One of the most iconic is, of course, the Fat Lady that guards the Gryffindor common room.
A classic Luna Lovegood outfit (and closet behind) and some more famous wands.
Hermione, Harry, and Ron outfits.
The Mirror of Erised that shows your deepest desires. It was huge! So cool to see.
The Griffin Stairwell to get to Dumbledore’s office guarded by the stone gargoyle.
Dumbledore in his office with Fawkes the phoenix.
The Triwizard Cup!
The Potions Room and Professor Snape.
“Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!”
Hagrid’s hut and his dog, Fang.
The iconic Quidditch brooms: the Firebolt, Nimbus 2000, and Nimbus 2001.
The Flying Car that Ron broke Harry out of the Dursley’s house to escape back to Hogwarts in.
The Chamber of Secrets Door was one of the coolest things to see. It’s huge and really makes you feel like you’re in the movie.
Voldemort’s snake, Nagini.
Professor Umbridge’s rules (or “educational decrees”) and her pink outfit and office.
The prophecy orbs.
The sweetest Buckbeak.
Platform 9 3/4 and the Hogwarts Express. You can hop on the Hogwarts Express for a ride like you’re going to Hogwarts.
On the Hogwarts Express on their way to Hogwarts with ALL the snacks.
Of course, you have to get Butterbeer while you’re on the tour! They do an intermission midway through so you can stop at the cafeteria area to get some food. The Butterbeer was delicious (like cream soda) but the food left something to be desired…
Gringott’s Bank.
One of the best parts of the tour was at the end when you get to see the GIANT Hogwarts castle.
Here are a few different views and in different lighting. It’s incredible!
You can see how big the castle is compared to me. I’m just getting over being sick here so excuse my appearance. The overnight flight didn’t do anything good for my immune system. 🙁
That’s all folks!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for you today! I hope this guide gave you an idea of what the Harry Potter Studio tour is like and what to expect. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, I’d 100% recommend this if you’re in London, it’s absolutely worth it and something you’ll remember forever.
If you’ve been to the Harry Potter Studio London, let me know what your favorite part was in the comments!
