I want to start doing monthly favorites posts, so I figured… Why not go all out for the first one and include my favorite things from the past 3 months?! These posts will cover the best books, records, TV shows, movies, podcasts, clothes, and products from the month/season. So let’s get right into it with my winter 2024 favorites!
Books
While I didn’t love every book I read this winter, I’ll include each one (with my ratings) because we all have different tastes. Even if I didn’t like something doesn’t mean you won’t, so I might as well share it, just in case! 😉
I’ll rank these in order of my favorite to least favorite.
- The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young (5/5 – incredible life-changing novel, would recommend for everyone to give this a read!) (from Book of the Month!)
- Evil Eye by Etaf Rum (5/5) (from Book of the Month!)
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren (4/5 – cute rom-com vibes, would recommend waiting until the holiday season for this one) (from Book of the Month – from years ago)
- The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles (3.5/5)
- Tomb Sweeping: Short Stories by Alexandra Chang (3/5 – some of these short stories were incredible and some of them missed the mark. I still think it’s worth a read for the good ones though.) (from Book of the Month)
- The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks (3/5) (from Book of the Month)
- The Fury by Alex Michaelides (3/5 – I had high hopes for this one because I absolutely devoured The Silent Patient, but this was a boring repetitive thriller in my opinion) (from Book of the Month)
- A Winter in New York by Josie Silver (2/5 – too cheesy for me and I didn’t like the main character. But if you want a cutesie winter story set in New York, you might enjoy it.) (from Book of the Month)
Records
We bought a record player earlier in 2023 so I’ve been building up my collection of records! Jeremy likes more rock music and I’m more into pop generally.
Some of my favorites that I bought in the past few months are:
- Folklore – Taylor Swift
- 1989 Taylor’s Version (the BEST!!!)
- Midnights – Taylor Swift
- Red Taylor’s Version
- The 1975 – The 1975
- I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it – The 1975
- A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships – The 1975
- If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power – Halsey
- Dawn FM – The Weeknd
Can you tell I’m a Swiftie? 😉
TV Shows/Movies
I’m a big reality TV girly so we’ll do the reality recs first.
- Love Island Allstars (Peacock)
- Love Island Games (Peacock)
- The Bachelor (I’d fallen off it for a while but Joey’s season is actually good so far!) (ABC/Hulu)
- Traitors – I’m not normally a competition show kinda gal, but after this, I might transition! This is wildly entertaining and I’m always waiting impatiently for the next episode each week. (Peacock)
Other TV shows:
- The Bear (Hulu)
- Letterkenny (Hulu)
What movies did we see in theatres… Oh, we saw the new Sydney Sweeney romcom! Anyone But You
I want to see Poor Things but have heard mixed reviews… Is it worth it?
Podcasts
I need new podcasts!!! Honestly, any recs you have for me would be much appreciated because I’ve been on a major podcast slump.
The main podcasts I listen to regularly are Huberman Lab (for science/health) and Morning Brew Daily & The Journal (for news).
Every once in a while I’ll listen to Girls Gotta Eat and Anything Goes for entertainment.
I recently started listening to Rosecast, which is a Bachelor recap podcast. It’s so funny!
Clothes
As usual, I’ve been buying/wearing activewear 99% of the time.
The two main brands recently have been Paragon Fitwear and Oner Active.
I did full reviews of these brands over on my other blog:
A few of my favorite pieces are these wavelength leggings, this lilac sports bra, and these joggers.
Products
I’ve been doing a (mostly…) no-spend January and have been trying to cut down on personal spending in the Christmas months too. So I haven’t bought a whole lot of new products.
A few random things I’ve been loving… (sorry not sorry half of these are food)
- Logitech ergonomic mouse (has massively helped my wrist pain!)
- Pastel highlighters (I just love school supply shopping even as an adult who’s no longer in school…)
- Burts Bees hand cream and vanilla lip balm
- Unreal coconut chocolates and peanut butter cups
- Aloha cookie dough protein bars
- Poppi orange
- Olipop cream soda
TTYL!
I hope this blog gave you some ideas for things to watch, read, listen to, etc in the coming months. Let me know in the comments some of your winter 2024 faves!
Unfortunately, I had to disable open comments due to a ton of spam comments coming in, so comments will only be open for one month after a post goes live now. If you’re unable to comment but want to get in contact, feel free to email me. I’d love to hear from you! 🙂
